Arlington Parent Coalition Associates With Hate Group
A group called the Arlington Parent Coalition appeared recently, and has been posting frequently in local Nextdoor forums and blogs. This has come in response to to Arlington Public School's draft J-2 PIP transgender policy.

The website prominently links to a statement by the American College of Pediatricians. This is not the American Academy of Pediatrics which is the actual professional organization you've heard of. It's a right-wing political group which has been named to confuse people into thinking they're the legitimate organization.

The American College of Pediatricians is listed as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

The real American Academy of Pediatrics urges support and care of trans-gender and gender-diverse kids.

The "research' section on that Arlington Parent Coalition's web site is stocked with "research" from think tanks and people with agendas.

The first five links:

"Unethical NIH Study Causes Irreversible Medical Harm to Children" - posted on youtube by "The Kelsey Coalition" - speech by Dr. Michael K. Laidlaw, who's a vocal anti-trans activist and writes frequently in church, pro-life journals and ultra-conservative journals. Read about him..
"What’s Wrong with the New NIH Study on Transgender Kids?" by Jane Robbins/ Erin Tuttle = employees of the American Principles Project, an ultra-conservative think tank
"Dr. Michelle Cretella on Transgenderism: A Mental Illness is Not a Civil Right" Michelle Critella = vice president of American College of Pediatricians (the fake one)

"The Medical Harms of Hormonal and Surgical Interventions for Gender Dysphoric Children" - the actual heritage foundation, a right wing think tank

"The Terrible Fraud of 'Transgender Medicine" - Quentin L. Van Meter = president of American College of Pediatricians (the fake one)

Please Don't Be Fooled By Fake Research
Please make your own decision about the PIP-2 policy. Do not be fooled by the agenda-driven "research" promoted by the Arlington Parent Coalition and the American College of Pediatricians. Choose to align with people who feel their position must be bolstered by lies at your own peril.

Aren't some of those links to NIH and other legitimate sources?
Yes. There are some papers from legitimate sources there, too. Please read them and decide for yourself if they are relevant to APS's position on gender identity policy. Please don't be fooled by all the papers mixed in with them sourced from think tanks and political organizations disguised as academic papers
I'm concerned that the PIP will prevent APS from telling parents about their children's gender identity situation at school! Why should I be prevented from knowing anything about my kid?
Some children with nontraditional gender identity may be afraid to tell their parents. They may have unsafe home environments. While I hope most parents are understanding of situations like this, many are not, and children have faced violence from their parents over these situations. This is to protect them. If your child hasn't already told you about their gender identity or sexual orientation, then to not protect their privacy at school would effectively be "outing" them. I agree with this.
